Hello im going to tokyo next month n planning to visit gotokuji :D What time exactly the temple will be open? When i google it some said 9am n some said 6am and 8.30, im planning to go at 7am bcz it'll be the only time i have or 9am tops, i need to head back to the city n leave for ghibli museum.I checked the city website but they dont have the opening time on display. Will it be ok if i go that early? Or it isnt open yet? Thx in advance :)

Hello, By chance I am in Tokyo now for one week. So, I called the temple. They told me the entrance gate is open from 06:00 to 17:00, but the reception (where you can buy Manekinekos or souvenirs) is open only from 8:00 to 16:30. sO, You can see a small temple where there are a lot of manekinekos from 06:00, but if you want to buy something you have to wait until 08:00. As I got this information from the temple, it should be very reliable information. I hope this helps. Have a nice trip in Japan.

The best way will depend on exactly where you are staying and whether or not you like wandering local streets or particularly want to take the tram. We walked from one station and took tram and train back for fun. I don't think there is a suitable bus. If you use Google maps it will provide detailed local travel options that can be trusted, including walking time. Easiest way to use the local transport is to get a Pasmo or Suica card - it avoids all the hassle of buying individual tickets. There's loads of information in English on the web about the Pasmo and Suica cards, the Tokyu corporation (for the tram) and the other lines from Shinjuku. Gotokuji is a haven of peace in an amazing city - if you have time, do what the locals do and take a stool, easel, pad and paints. Do hope you are lucky and get the timing right to see the cherry trees at their peak - we were a bit late but were treated to a carpet of petals looking like snow.
