Download and install updates to the computer BIOS. This process is also known as 'flashing the BIOS'. Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help to improve computer performance, provide support for hardware components or Windows upgrades, or install specific BIOS updates.

You just put the BIOS update files on a Flash drive (you definitely don't need one of the best flash drives for this), plug it into a specific port on the motherboard, press a button and wait a couple of minutes while some lights flash. You'll need BIOS Flashback if your motherboard won't support your new CPU until it gets a BIOS update.

Some manufacturers offer a BIOS-flashing option directly in their BIOS, or as a special key-press option when you boot the computer. You copy the BIOS file to a USB drive, reboot your computer, and then enter the BIOS or UEFI screen.
