    Hydrochlorothiazide is a type of diuretic (water pill). This medicine reduces excess fluid levels in the body and is used to treat edema (fluid overload) associated with heart, liver, kidney, or lung disease. It is also used in treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure.
