St. Mary Magdalene (flourished 1st century ce, Palestine; feast day July 22) was one of Jesus ’ most celebrated disciples, famous, according to Mark 16:9–10 and John 20:14–17, for being the first person to see the resurrected Christ.

On July 22, the Church celebrates the Feast of St. Mary Magdelene, one of the most prominent women mentioned in the New Testament. Her name comes from the town of Magdala in Galilee, where she was born.

St. Mary Magdalene's feast day is July 22. She is the patron saint of religious converts, repentant sinners, of people facing sexual temptation, of pharmacists, tanners and women, and the patron saint of many other places and causes.
