WEBMar 12, 2024 · The requirement to apply de-emphasis is embedded in the table of contents on the CD. If you rip the music to a PC then that information is lost and the DAC can't compensate for it since it won't have the de-emphasis flag set.

Has anyone had any luck with the various options to do this? And does anyone have pre-emphasis CDs that they can play correctly in their systems?

I have a few old 80's CDs with pre-emphasis, but it is not commonly used anymore. - Rip to single wav file & cue sheet. - Process the wav with Sox. - Mount the "wav + cue" disc image with Daemon Tools, Virtual Clone Drive or some other virtual CD drive emulator.
