Generic Name: Doxycycline hyclate
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you've had:
- Trouble swallowing
- Esophagus problems (such as hiatal hernia or reflux/heartburn)
Products that may interact with this drug include:
- Retinoid medications taken by mouth (such as acitretin, isotretinoin)
- Barbiturates (such as phenobarbital)
- Blood thinners (such as warfarin)
- Digoxin
- Anti-seizure medications (such as phenytoin)
- Strontium
- Do not use this drug if you become pregnant.
- Take this medication at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after magnesium or aluminum containing antacids, or other products containing calcium, iron or zinc.
- This drug is best absorbed on an empty stomach. May take with food or milk to lessen chance of stomach upset if directed by your doctor.
- Medication should be taken with plenty of water.
- Avoid prolonged or excessive exposure to direct and/or artificial sunlight while using this medication.
- Do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking this medication.
- For capsule, delayed release products : Swallow whole. Do not chew or crush.
- For capsule, delayed release products : Important: Finish all this medication unless otherwise directed by prescriber.
- For tablet, delayed release products : Do not chew or crush before swallowing.
