Finding physical drive of unpartitioned disk from drive letter

The only tool that seems to know the connection is Windows' disk manager, as it shows the empty disk and marks it with the corresponding drive letter.

Most of Windows API that are capable of working with remote machines, usually can be made working mounting IPC$ share using either WNetAddConnection* family or NetUseAdd. There are exceptions though.
